The Mahaba Center was created to both celebrate and experience a love of art and nature.  Located in Arusha, Tanzania it is not only a place to buy fine art produced by talented artists of East Africa, but a place to experience art.  The Center is an interactive space.  Visiting our gallery allows you to experience how an artist or a particular piece of art will feel to you in your living space.  Our Artcuterie Café allows you to experience the art of sharing a farm-to-table meal with friends, designed on charcuterie boards in a creative and warm space.  Finally, the Center allows you to grow and learn.  From Tinga Tinga painting, to Maasai beaded jewelry to dance to gardening – Mahaba Center creates group classes to spark inspiration in learners of all ages. 

The idea for this gallery originated over a decade ago when our family moved away from Tanzania but the continent and it’s beauty remained in our hearts. We lived both in the United States and Europe but the desire to return to East Africa and participate in the beauty, artistic expression and talent that exists in our homeland remained ever present.

The Mahaba Art Center is envisioned not as a simple place to display art, but as a place to experience and feel art, to let it soak in and improve your senses and your life. When you visit our Center, you can take a break from the chaos in life and fall back into relaxation and peace. Graze a table and have a cup’a with a friend while taking in the artistic beauty surrounding you. You can experience the joy of creation by taking a class and learning a new skill or rediscovering an old one. There are so many ways to experience the love of art and nature….we invite you and your senses in.
